Bulldogs Blank Jaguars The Bellingham Bulldogs a semi-pro football team in the North American Football League, won 29-0 over the King County Jaguars on Saturday, Aug. 29, and clinched a first-round bye in the postseason. In the first half, Bellingham quarterback Mark Simmons, a Meridian graduate, connected with Cory Culp (Meridian) for a touchdown and Jesh Morgan (Nooksack) for another TD. Sean Foster ended the first-half scoring with a field goal to make the score 15-0. Simmons was sidelined in the second half with a rib injury so backup QB Brad Collins took over. The Bulldogs offense sputtered and turned to the running game of Justin Whitney, Brad Clark, Greg Thomas, Chase Cantrelle. Collins eventually hit Cantrelle (WWU/Meridian) for a TD pass, and Brett Hall (WWU) returned an interception for a touchdown to finish out the scoring. The Bulldogs, 7-0 and in first place in the Western Conference Northwest Division, recorded their fourth shutout this season and play at the West Sound Saints on Saturday, Sept. 12. |
